Breece Hall has been an absolute force over the last two weeks. All he has done has lived up to the hype from fall camp and maybe then some. Now, once again, we’re asking ourselves if can he do it for a third week in a row.
Rumblings from camp fueled some of the early Breece Hall rumors, and his back-to-back 100+ yard games and five touchdowns having converted those rumors into real excitement and anticipation. His 6.3 yards per carry are, to this point, higher than David Montgomery ever posted in his Iowa State career. Obviously the two played in different circumstances, especially in regards to the offensive line, but that stat does demonstrate how good Breece has been so far.
This week, against an Oklahoma State defense that’s only marginally better than West Virginia’s, Hall should be able to get his own on Saturday afternoon. Oklahoma State gives up over 150 yards per game on the ground, including over 4 yards per carry. Their struggles to stop the run have escalated a bit in recent weeks, as the Oklahoma State defense has allowed over 350 yards on the ground over their last two games.
I think Breece Hall is in for a big one on Saturday. The offensive line has put together some of their best football in the Matt Campbell era (finally), and the stellar passing game from Brock Purdy compliments the run game and vice versa. There are just too many components to this Iowa State offense right now for a struggling defense to key in on and stop. I expect another 100 yard performance from Breece Hall on the way to a Cyclone victory.
