Iowa State got a much needed conference win against TCU. Iowa State is 3-2 overall, and 1-1 in the conference. The Big 12 is one of the deepest conferences in the country and the separation between 2-7 is minimal. Looking at the top 25 as a whole, the Big 12 has three ranked with Baylor just missing the cut this week.
Iowa State was on the fringe of the AP poll getting 5 votes, but failed to get any in the coaches poll. I suspect it’ll take more than a win this week at West Virginia to bump us back into the top 25. Back to back conference road wins should be enough, assuming some teams above us fall.
The confidence meter in the program is back up to a 100 after falling a little after the loss to Baylor. After a low stress, easy win against TCU, who had been ranked a few weeks prior, the temperament in Ames has seemed to shift a little. Three winnable games remain in Brocktober, and the Iowa State team is finally starting to look like the highly anticipated team it was projected to be.
