Betting the Big 12: Week 12 Edition

Baylor finally gets to show us how good they really are.. Or are they?

Our first week we got all of our picks right! They say a blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. It only took 11 weeks to do it… I knew you guys trusted me. Haha

ISU’s chances of covering the 14.5 looked bleak to start, but I was even able to personally benefit on the comeback. After OU went up by 3 scores, I took advantage of a 27.5 in-game spread. Thanks for that Vegas.

Baylor held on to stay unbeaten, and you could say the remainder of better teams won in Week 11. Now the Bears face their biggest test of the season – OKLAHOMA!

Everyone is back in action. No more BYE’s as all 10 teams are in action in week 12 of the College Football Season.

Here is Week 12 of Betting the Big 12

SATURDAY NOVEMBER 16th GAMES

Texas (6-3, 4-2) at Iowa State (5-4, 3-3) | 2:30 P.M. On FS1 | ISU -6

This would be the game of the week if it wasn’t for BU/OU, and should still turn out to be a quality contest. Both teams are underperforming based on pre-season expectations, but both could also win out and salvage what’s left on their plate.

Texas has been ravaged by injuries, most notably in the defensive secondary, while Iowa State has lost four games by a total of 11 points. I think this is the time the Clones pull it out.

It will be a dandy of a game. Experts would say this one is closer on paper, but Vegas tabs ISU as almost a touchdown favorite. Give me the Cyclones with the win, but Texas to cover.

Kansas (3-6, 1-5) at #23 Oklahoma State (6-3, 3-3) | 11:00 A.M. on FS1 | OSU -17

The Cowboys take a week off, and fall into the top-25. KU also is coming off a BYE, but did not get any such luck. This Jayhawk team has been sneaky good in certain games, while completely looking like their old selves in other contests.

Okie State has been the true Jekyll and Hyde of the Big 12 this year, but is also a Big-12 best 7-2 against the spread. It’ll be hard for anybody to stop Chuba Hubbard, let alone that thing they call a defense in Lawrence. In fact, the Les Miles Mad Hatter’s are dead last in the league in stopping the run.

I expect a record-setting day from Hubbard, and the Cowboys to roll. Don’t like the spread, but if you put a gun to my head, I would lean toward the Pokes.

TCU (4-5, 2-4) at Texas Tech (4-5, 2-4) | 11:00 A.M. on ESPN2 | TCU -1.5

Identical records for both of these struggling programs, and while TCU nearly pulled off the upset last week versus Baylor, the Red Raiders slaughtered West Virginia.

The Horned Frogs have earned the right to be favored, with a better defense and a much more proven head coach. If they were at home I would pick TCU all day every day, but Texas Tech can hang in this game in Lubbock.

Basically a pick em here, and I think TCU has the mental makeup to do it on the road. I like TCU here

Here are my best bets for Week TWELVE of the 2019 Season

West Virginia (3-6, 1-5) at #16 Kansas State (6-3, 3-3) | 2:30 P.M. On ESPN | Kansas State -14.5

While WVU looked awful in their loss to Texas Tech, I still expect them to put up a fight under their first-year head coach. K-State on the other hand is coming off a tough loss to Texas, and are the feel-good story of the Big 12.

This matchup favors the Wildcats in nearly every aspect, and their vaunted pass defense will most likely shut down the Mountaineers ability to throw the ball. Plus WVU is awful at stopping the run – look for a big day out from quarterback Skylar Thompson.

Don’t love the hook, but I still am confident enough to take the Wildcats for $100k and the 14.5 points they are taking.

#9 Oklahoma (8-1, 5-1) at #12 Baylor (9-0, 6-0) | 6:30 P.M. On ABC | Oklahoma -9

COLLEGE GAMEDAY is coming to the lackluster city of Waco! This should be the game of the week, not only the Big 12, but in the Country. Prime time, under the lights, and it is finally time for Matt Rhule and his Fake ID Baylor team to lose.

I’m kind of amazed that OU is favored by this much, especially on the road. While they do have offensive firepower, their defense showed us all how much they stunk versus Iowa State. Baylor has been due for a slip up at some point, and has shown us they are human after barely beating WVU and TCU in successive weeks.

I think OU wins, but the Baylor defense keeps it closer than you think.

I’ll take Baylor and the 9 points they are given for $200k.
