The kick was up, it was good, and horns were down.

How the weather should have been for the one time Texas visits Ames in November.

Instead, we got a temperate day of tailgating for a 2:30 kick.

Iowa State used some trickery to get Kolar open in the end zone on the opening drive.

The Cyclone defense came to play, forcing 4 Texas three and outs in the first half.

Lets take a look at the coaching staff adding the fake field goal to the playbook.

Here’s the field goal unit executing said fake field goal.

And here’s the coaching staff removing that play from the playbook.

Texas would finally stop punting, going 75 yards in five plays to score before the half.

But the Cyclones scored a touchdown so quickly to open the second half that the people who went out for beers weren’t even back in their seats yet.

And then there were plenty of punts.

The Cyclone offense just couldn’t get going.

Then two 80-plus yard touchdown drives by Texas changed things in a hurry.

Brock Purdy and the offense, behind 21-20, marched down the field and got into field goal range.

The first field goal, attempted by Narveson, was missed, but Texas jumped off-sides.

Connor Assalley then lined up for a game winning field goal as time was expiring.

BUT HE MADE IT.

And proceeded to sprint down the field in true kicker celebration fashion.

In summary.
