Cyclones Get Out-Hustled Against Iowa, 84-68

The Cyclones dropped a tough one at home.

After picking up a signature win last Sunday against Seton Hall, the Cyclones returned to the floor tonight to take on Iowa in the CyHawk series. It didn’t go well. The worst part of the game was far and away the first five minutes, when Iowa took a quick 18-4 lead behind 4-of-6 shooting from three point range, and a continuation of the poor shooting we’ve seen in pretty much every game from the Cyclones this season.

Iowa State finally started to pick up the pace on offense near the end of the half, and cut a 20+ point lead down to 15 by the time the teams head to the locker room for the break.

The second half started off with promise, as a few nice plays by Solomon Young and a Prentiss Nixon three pointer helped Iowa State cut the lead down to six. Unfortunately, Iowa kept knocking down key three pointers every time Iowa State was on the verge of making a run, and kept the Cyclones at arm’s length for the balance of the contest. Tyrese led the team in scoring with 22 on 10-of-17 shooting and 2-of-7 from three.

Next up is Fort Wayne at home on Dec. 22nd.
