Basketball Preview: We’re Talkin’ Seton Hall Part II

This is a big one in Ames tonight

NCAA Basketball: Battle 4 Atlantis-Iowa State vs Seton Hall Kevin Jairaj-USA TODAY Sports

The Battle For Atlantis rematch is happening tonight, folks. Iowa State will take on Seton Hall for the second time in 10 days inside Hilton Coliseum. What will tonight bring in the Big East/Big 12 challenge?

Last Time Out

Iowa State took down UMKC by the score of 79-61 in a sleepy game for Iowa State. Energy was down, and UMKC was able to hang around for most of the game while Iowa State went through the motions. Rasir Bolton, Michael Jacobson and Tyrese Haliburton each put up 19 points for the Cyclones.

About Seton Hall

The Pirates are now ranked 16th and have not played a game since last week against Iowa State. They also moved up in the KenPom rankings to 15th. There isn’t any more to be said about these guys that wasn’t already said ten days ago.

Opponent Player To Watch

Myles Powell, once again. Iowa State was able to handle Seton Hall when Powell was struggling to score. Then, he took over in the second half and it became that much easier for the rest of the Seton Hall team to do what they want and that is where the game got away from Iowa State. If Iowa State is going to win tonight, they will have to absolutely keep Powell under 20 points. If he gets his scoring going once again, who knows what may happen from there.

What Will Happen

I’m kind of scared to go the way I am with this one, especially after seeing how Iowa State looked the other night at home, but tonight should look different. There should be a buzz inside Hilton, and Iowa State knows what they are going to get from Seton Hall.

This totally hinges on made shots, as it always does. If Iowa State can play like they did against Alabama and the first half against Seton Hall this will be a really fun game to tune into tonight. If they don’t well, you know what happens. I think the good guys come out on top in this one and notch a tournament-boosting win.

Iowa State- 84

Seton Hall- 79

Pick Three

1- Tyrese does not kill the lights against Seton Hall this time

2- George Conditt continues his ascension

3- Iowa State shoots above 35% from deep
