Down the Pipe & Natty Lite - Episode 41: Cyclones in the NFL Draft and the Future of Drones and Autonomous Vehicles

How will David and Hakeem fit on their new teams?

NCAA Football: Kansas State at Iowa State Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

For the first time in five years, Iowa State had a player selected in the NFL Draft. We took a look at David Montgomery, Hakeem Butler, and all the undrafted free agents and examined how they fit on their new teams and what their prospects look like on those teams. Spoiler alert: we’re really excited about David Montgomery on the Bears.

Then, we pivoted to one of Cole’s favorite new technologies, drones. Drones have exploded in popularity over the past decade, and have become more and more prevalent in the workplace, especially in construction, where they can offer new information that was previously never available to the industry. However, services like delivery are becoming more and more common. Does a line need to be drawn on how much involvement drones have in our daily lives?

Naturally, this led to a discussion on autonomous vehicles and other forms of automation. Should we let automation continue indefinitely while we adjust our skills, or should we set limits on how much of human labor they can replace?
