Marial Shayok Lands Two-Way Deal with 76ers

It’s becoming a trend for ISU alumni.

It was announced that Marial Shayok has agreed to a two-way contract with the Philadelphia 76ers. Shayok, the former Virginia Cavalier and Cyclone was drafted 54th by the 76ers in the 2019 NBA Draft. Shayok has been performing better than expected in the NBA Summer League, which is a huge part in why he landed this deal.

Shayok will be splitting time in the G-League and the big leagues, joining a Sixers squad with the likes of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, and Tobias Harris. A 3&D player like Shayok will fit in very nicely next to some of the stars in the eastern conference.

Most pro Cyclones of the past few seasons have started on two-way deals before getting a full time NBA contract. Monte Morris, Georges Niang, Deonte Burton, and Naz Mirtou-Long have all been on two-way deals since graduating from Iowa State. Shayok joins Matt Thomas in the second Cyclone to land a new NBA deal this summer.
