Corey Dunn has been ruled out for the 2019 season with a torn achilles, which he suffered last week while warming up for a workout.
Dunn took over punting duties last season for Cyclones after transferring from City College of San Francisco. Dunn’s longest punt last season went for 65 yards, but inconsistencies were a major issue plaguing him for most of the season.
Iowa State was able to sign transfer punter Brian Papazian from San Jose State last week, but Dunn’s injury may leave a sizeable void in a special teams unit that struggled all last season. Iowa-native Joe Rivera will also get an opportunity at the position come fall camp. Rivera punted twice against Drake averaging 38 yards per punt.
