Bacon Bits: Iowa State Football Recruiting Notes

A few crootin’ nuggets.

Hey Cyclone fans, I hope you are hungry. Hungry for some bacon, because who the hell isn’t always hungry for bacon? Ok, it isn’t real bacon, but this is my feature for Iowa State football recruiting tidbits I have during the week. Anything on my mind or anything that doesn’t go on my recruiting big boards will be posted here as “Bacon Bits”. Whether you like it crispy, chewy or somewhere in-between. There is always something for everyone.

I know it’s been too long since I have done one of these, but with the season over, I am going to have more time on my hands. Since the last post, there have been TONS of offers flying out so I will just go ahead and let you know what these new offers mean to all these guys. There were several that I couldn’t catch up with, but I want to tell you about the ones who I did speak with.

2021 ILB Jake Chaney (Lehigh Acres, FL): “It was a blessing that they wanted to offer me and I’m very grateful for it. I knew my hard work wouldn’t go unnoticed and they saw it. I plan on visiting in the spring.”

2021 3-Star QB Colten Gauthier (Dacula, GA): “It felt really good. My dad’s uncle went to Iowa State. So, I do follow their program. I hope to visit sometime in March or April.”

2021 TE Weston Wolff (Venice, FL): “I was very excited about the offer because I know Iowa State utilizes the tight end in the passing game, which is something that is important to me. I would consider a possible visit to Ames.”

2022 SDE Tristan Monday (Scottsdale, AZ): “I really like what they are doing with their program. They are trending in the right direction with a defense that is changing football. I love what they stand for and the energy they play with. They have amazing facilities with a coaching staff to match and I am hoping for a visit.”

2022 Safety Kaleb Purdy (Saint Louis, MO): “It meant a lot to me and my family both was excited about it. I knew that my first offer was coming sooner than later and, in my head,, I knew Iowa State would probably be the first or one of the first because my teammates Rico Barfield and Mekhi Wingo kept telling Coach Dk that he had to get me. But this offer felt great and I hope I can build a relationship with the school and coaching staff. I know Coach Dk said they will try to get me on campus as soon as possible.”

2021 OLB Jermaine Hamilton-Jordan (Kansas City, MO): “I Feel like there were the first team that actually believed in my abilities on and off the field. And I’ll always appreciate that. I’m still talking to all the coaching staff and trying to get to one of their junior days.”

2021 Safety Dorian Singer (Saint Paul, MN): “It was great just lost for words and happy for my first offer.” He also mentioned that Coach Campbell will visit him this week.

2021 WR Javon Gibson (Richmond, TX): “I’m excited that a major program like Iowa state (offered). I loved watching Hakeem Butler who I compare myself to over his years playing at Iowa state.”
