Hey Cyclone fans, I hope you are hungry. Hungry for some bacon because who the hell isn’t always hungry for bacon? Ok, it isn’t real bacon, but this is my feature for Iowa State football recruiting tidbits I have during the week. Anything on my mind or anything that doesn’t go on my recruiting big boards will be posted here as “Bacon Bits”. Whether you like it crispy, chewy or somewhere in-between. There is always something for everyone.
Since yesterday, there have been plenty of offers flying out so I will just go ahead and let you know what these new offers mean to all these guys. Not to mention, we had a couple more 2021 visitors from this past weekend that I caught up with as well. Lastly, could Iowa State land a 2021 offensive line commit on Friday? It’s all right here.

New Offers
You will notice that the staff was really working hard in the sunshine state on Monday and they weren’t afraid to offer several guys from the same school.
2021 ATH Tarvarish Dawson (Lehigh Acres, FL): “It was a big offer in my eyes. I hope to take a visit up there someday.”
2021 OL/DL Aden Kelley (Thomas, Ok): “I was in shock initially man, just super excited for my first P5 offer and the Big 12 is super special as well. I plan on going up in the spring.”
2021 4-Star CB Omarion Cooper (Lehigh Acres, FL): “I think Iowa State is a great school.”
2021 OT Ethan Mort (Venice, FL): “I am very excited. I was hoping to get an offer from Iowa State.”
2021 WR Joriell Washington (Fort Myers, FL): “I loved the offer. I look forward to coming up in the spring for a visit.”
2023 ATH Jayvant Brown (Deerfield Beach, FL): “I was very happy to receive an offer. I will have to look more into Iowa State.”
2023 ATH Richard Young (Lehigh Acres, FL): “It’s a blessing to receive this offer from Iowa State. I will likely take a visit in the summer.”
2021 3-Star OT Isaia Glass (Queen Creek, AZ): “It was great to receive an offer from a school like Iowa State. It’s an awesome program and it’s where my quarterback went that graduated last year (Devin Larson). I definitely want to take a visit.”
2022 4-Star SDE Richard Thomas Jr. (Fort Lauderdale, FL): “The offer felt great and was truly a blessing.” He also added that he would take a visit as soon as he got the chance to.
More 2021 Visitors from The Weekend
In addition to the two visitors I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I got the chance to speak with two more key visitors from this past weekend.
2021 3-Star Safety Benjamin Perry (Chicago, IL): “I loved the visit. My favorite part was the talk I had with coach Campbell and walking through the stadium listening to the tornado warning sound.” And when I asked Benjamin if he had a commitment date in mind, he said he would release a top five in July. I then asked if Iowa State will be in his top five and he replied with “Definitely.”
2021 TE Garrett Gillette (Mukwonago, WI): “It was awesome I really got to see much more of the facilities learn more about their culture they are building under Coach Campbell. They really spent a lot of time showing me how they use their Tight Ends and it’s such a big part of their game and I love that. Coach Manning and I went over tight end film. He really sees me fitting into their offensive style. I’m really looking forward to coming back in Spring to see them practice!” He mentioned to me that he would like to pick a school by June but doesn’t have a date set quite yet.
Announcement Watch
This Friday (January 31st), 2021 3-Star OT Marcus Mbow (Milwaukee, WI) will make his commitment announcement. He will choose between Iowa, Iowa State, Nebraska and Purdue. I can’t spill the beans on where he will be headed but just keep in mind that I think that Iowa State is on the outside looking in with him. As of now, the Cyclones are still looking for that first 2021 commit and I don’t see anything changing that this week.
