Betting the..... Big 12(?): Week 6

And some other stuff.

NCAA Football: Oklahoma State at Kansas Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

Last week we went 3-2 to keep our positive streak going. This column is printing money on the season, and I think Vegas/Bob Bowlsby are catching on. How else do you explain this week’s slate of games (Waco outbreak notwithstanding). Little do they know that we can hone in on this one game, and I feel great about my picks. Can we go 5 straight positive weeks? Let’s get to work.

THE GAME

Kansas (0-3) at West Virginia (2-1)

Kickoff: 11:00am | TV: FOX | The Line: West Virginia -22.5

Get excited everyone. 0-3 Kansas is here in a national spotlight with a coach that has COVID. Part of me actually thinks they can keep this close, as I don’t feel great about laying a ton of points with West Virginia, but I’ve been saying it for weeks. I don’t trust Kansas until I’ve seen them do it.

Pick: West Virginia -22.5

BEST BETS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY

Memphis +3.5 vs UCF

This game is great every year. There will be a million points scored, and I just like Memphis at home. There’s not a lot more to go into it than that.

Mississippi State +6.5 vs Texas A&M

The shine has come off Mike Leach quick. Texas A&M just picked up their biggest win in years. This is a perfect spot to fade the Aggies and buy low on the Bulldogs. Plenty of cowbell to be expected here as Mike Leach swings his sword and Jimbo comes crashing down.

North Carolina -14 vs Florida State

UNC scored at ease against Virginia Tech, finally getting their offense on track. Florida State just gave up 300+ yards rushing to Notre Dame. North Carolina can run and they have a massive advantage at QB. Florida State still stinks, and I’m happy to keep fading them.

NFL PICK OF THE WEEKEND

Texans +3.5 at Titans

Bill O’Brien is gone as the play caller/coach/GM/equipment manager/janitor and lo and behold the Texans took out the Jaguars last weekend. The fired coach bump carries over for a 2nd week! This is a short week for the Titans, who are a generous 4-0 overall despite being just 1-3 against the spread. They are going to take a loss soon, and I feel like this is the spot.

REAL BIG 12 CHAMPIONSHIP ODDS

That looks so good. I can’t wait for next weekend.

SEASON RECORD: 23-10-1 (+12.1 units)
