It’s almost criminal that I haven’t used Mike Rose as our defensive player to watch this season, but there have been plenty of other fascinating options leading up to this week. Rose has been Iowa State’s best defensive player this season. Whether it’s leading the team in tackles or coming up with diving interceptions in crucial moments, Rose is clearly at the top of the Iowa State defense.
Baylor sits middle of the road in the country offensively. They aren’t the best and nowhere near the top as they get their feet under themselves under Dave Aranda and try to through the struggle-ridden 1-3 start to their season. The Iowa State defense matches up well against this Baylor attack and Charlie Brewer. If Mike Rose continues to be all over the field along side his counter part Jake Hummel, this defense will have no issue with the Baylor Bears.
I am predicting that Mike Rose will add another interception to his tally this week. Charlie Brewer has thrown three so far this season and he really hasn’t been prone to throwing a ton of interceptions over his career, but Mike Rose tends to find himself in the right spot at the right time. Look for the Iowa State defense to confuse the new look Baylor Bears and take this game home. Should be fun.
