The Cyclone women open up the Big 12 season with an early road test against TCU. For the 3rd straight game to start the season, Kristin Scott, Ashley Joens, Kylie Feuerbach, Emily Ryan, and Lexi Donarski are in the starting lineup. A fun twist: Bill Fennelly has arrived to Fort Worth just a few hours before tip-off.

Iowa State starts the game off H-O-T hot and quickly score the first 10 points of the contest in just 3 minutes, forcing TCU to call an early timeout in the first quarter. The Cyclones did not slow down after that, leading 28-10 after the first quarter. Ashley Joens pouring in 13 points on 5/5 shooting, knocking down 3 threes in through the first 10 minutes.

The second quarter was more of the same, as the Twister Sisters just extend their lead. 54-32 at the break, Ashley Joens leading all scorers with 20 points to go along with 6 rebounds. The biggest statline of the half is the Cyclones 3 point shooting, knocking down 9 of 18 attempts in the first half, shooting 58% overall from the field. Also worth noting, Kristin Scott surpassed 1000 career points on her career during the first half.

Right out of the break, Iowa State did not look the sharpest. Struggling to knock down shots, they allowed TCU to make a small run and a shot at making a comeback. What had been a 27 point lead, was soon just an 14 point lead and shrinking. After a timeout, the Cyclones settle in and carry a 23 point advantage into the final stanza, 75-53.

TCU once again closes the gap early in the quarter scoring the first 6 points to bring it to a 17 point deficit. A slow 4th quarter did not see much scoring until late, but the Cyclones pull away to win big, 91-68.

The Cyclones move to 2-1, 1-0 in the Big 12 before their matchup with #1 ranked South Carolina on Sunday, December 6th at 11 am.
