After an impressive debut season, defensive tackle Latrell Bankston announced that he is entering the transfer portal.

While we may not know for a little bit exactly where he’s going or why he’s decided to leave Ames, early speculation is that he could be headed to Auburn to join new Tigers coach Bryan Harsin, whom offered Latrell a scholarship to Boise State while in JUCO.

This past season, Latrell recorded 3.5 sacks and earned Honorable Mention Big 12 Newcomer of the Year recognition, and was slated to potentially become the starter next season, depending on the decisions of Enyi Uwazurike and Josh Bailey, both of which could potentially return for another season and take advantage of the free eligibility. Behind those two, redshirt freshmen Willis Singleton and redshirt sophomore Isaiah Lee would be the next two candidates to take over at the nose tackle spot in 2021.
