Last Time Out
Let’s do this as simple as possible to avoid the pain. First half good. Second half very bad. Oklahoma smacked us around and came out with a 90-61 victory. Help.
About Texas
We find ourselves playing Texas once again. The last time was down in Austin where we saw Iowa State give up a lead late in the game and eventually falling 72-68. The fun thing about this one is, both Texas and Iowa State are without one of their best players. Jericho Sims will be out for maybe the rest of the season with a back injury. Which certainly gives Iowa State an advantage in the post. What did I just say?
Texas sits 4-7 in the conference and 14-10 overall. This game will basically be for 8th place in the 7th place in the Big 12 and hopes of fighting their way out of the first night of the Big 12 Tournament. Tough sledding for both teams going forward.
Player To Watch
With Jericho Sims out, I am going with Matt Coleman. He scored 14 points against Iowa State the last time out and he seems like a likely option to have a big game with Sims missing. Usually when things go bad for Iowa State, there is a guard going off from deep and Coleman seems like a likely suspect.
What Will Happen
This is going to be ugly. Both teams are struggling and without some key pieces to their respective teams. Iowa State showed they can play well well without Tyrese Haliburton, they were sharing the ball and playing the system well in the first half against Oklahoma. Then when they completely abandon that and turn the ball over, all hell breaks loose. I really have no idea how this one is going to go. My head is telling me that Texas still is better even with Jericho Sims out but my gut is saying this is a Solomon Young type of game. So in fairness to that. Both teams get a participation ribbon and I am not picking a winner.
Pick Three
1- Solomon Young scores 25
2- Prentiss Nixon shoots below 15% from 3pt land
3- Give me the Caleb Grill show again, scores 12 points
