Most expected the 2019-2020 Cyclones to roll over and die in their first round matchup in the Big 12 Tournament against Oklahoma State. Prentiss Nixon had other ideas.

The senior went for a season-high 25 points on 11-of-21 shooting from the floor, and hit a number of big shots that kept the Cyclones in the game until the final horn.

The Cyclones maintained a consistent lead that stretched as high as ten through most of the second half, but critical defensive mistakes and a questionable no-call ultimately doomed Iowa State, ending their season on a tough note. However, the team should be commended for the grit and toughness they showed tonight which they had lacked for much of the post-Tyrese Haliburton season.

This season’s been a rocky one, but the offseason could prove to be the most intriguing. With a highly-rated recruiting class, a number of expected departures, and a true “come to Jesus” moment for Steve Prohm, the drama surrounding the Iowa State basketball program may just be beginning. We’ll be wrapping up this season and and outlining the various offseason storylines in the near future, so be sure to stop back.
