Following a rough offseason that saw Iowa State swing and miss on a number of high profile transfers, amid a few commits, Steve Prohm picked up a big late summer addition in former Ole Miss wing Blake Hinson.
Ole Miss transfer Blake Hinson just verbally committed to Iowa State, a source tells @247Sports. Plans to apply for a wavier to be eligible immediately. Averaged 10.1 PPG and 4.6 RPG this past season.

Hinson average 10.1 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.4 last season in 31.1 minutes per game for the Rebels, and shot 32% from three, down from his 35% campaign as a freshmen. A solid defender and spot up shooter, Hinson has the opportunity to be a contributor right away for the Cyclones. Whether or not that happens next season or the following year will depend on getting a waiver from the NCAA, which he and Iowa State are expected to pursue.
Of note, Hinson did miss a few games early in the 2019 season due to a “blood abnormality,” though one would have to assume that those issues are largely behind him if he’s still cleared to play.
