Steve Prohm and his staff have officially shifted their recruiting focus off of the transfer portal and onto the 2021 and 2022 recruiting classes. Iowa State has offered a plethora of players that should get #CyclONENation excited for the future. Although there are now 40+ combined offered players in the ‘21 and ‘22 classes, there are a few that stand out for the month of July.
With players commiting to other schools and more being offered, the Cyclones current total sits at 15 offered players in the class of 2021, while officially offering only one ‘21 prospect in the month of July.
- Wesley Cardett, G, Fort Lauderdale, FL (3-star 100th via 247sports)
Cardett has held on offer from Iowa State since 2018, but I thought it would be a great time to catch up on where the Cyclones sit with is recruitment. He currently has a laundry list of power five offers headlined by Florida, USC, and St. John’s. The 6’6” combo guard is incredibly athletic while having great slashing ability. He would seem to be a great fit in the ISU system.
- David Joplin, PF, Brookfield Central, WI, 3-star 183rd via 247sports)
Joplin is the lone ‘21 prospect to have been offered by the Cyclones in the month of July. The Wisconsin native is another uberly athletic player who has terrific scoring ability. He has superb versatility standing at 6’7” with serious guard skills. Iowa State will have to beat out a few schools for Joplin’s services headlined by Minnesota, Texas, and Butler just to name a few.
Excited to have received an offer from Coach Prohm and staff at Iowa State University! pic.twitter.com/nvhwGDHhEf

- Jordan Shorter, SF, West Oak Academy, FL (unranked via 247sports)
The West Oak Academy forward was offered by Iowa State in late June, and Cyclone fans should be very excited. Shorter is a very under the radar prospect, as he is currently unranked on 247sports’ list. His flashy game consists of great ball handling and vision, with a very smooth shooting stroke. Although, Shorter might not have all the stars, he could be a steal for Steve Prohm’s ‘21 recruiting class.
The Cyclones have been busy in class of 2022 recruiting, as they officially offered three players from their class in July. There are plenty of names that ISU fans should remember for potential targets.
- Isaac Traudt, F, Grand Island, NE (3-star 119th via Rivals.com)
Traudt is a classic smooth shooting big man, who is great at finding his spots on the floor. He has a terrific all-around game while even being pretty active on the defensive end. The Cyclones will be battling Kansas State and Creighton fro his services, but he certainly will be an intriguing name to look out for.

- Eli King, PG, Caledonia, MN (3-star 139th via Rivals.com)
Eli King is one of the best two sport athletes in the country. Notre Dame and Iowa are after his services on the gridiron as a wide receiver, while the Cyclones are interest in both football and basketball. Standing at 6’3” King plays predominantly point guard, but his basketball IQ combined with insane speed with the ball in his hands is what makes him so special.
- Joe Hulburt, PF, Enderlin, ND (3-star 149th via 247sports)
Blessed to receive an offer from Iowa State University #CycloneNation /@adidasD1MN pic.twitter.com/0R0fHxKK5o

Hulburt is another player to have received an offer from Iowa State in the past moth, and it is well deserved. The North Dakota product plays his AAU games with D1 factory, D1 Minnesota. Standing at 6’10” Hulburt is a classic modern big man that can stretch the floor at an elite level. He can even bring the ball up the court at times and run the offense. Colorado, Iowa, and Ohio State are also after his services, but the Cyclones certainly have a shot.
