Twister Sisters Before the Storm: Bring on Okie State

Beat them cowgirls.

Last Time Out

The Cyclones put a whooping on the Tortillas of Taco Tech down in Lubbock to notch their 3rd conference win in 4 tries. They had it stuck on automatic all afternoon long, drilling 19 threes in their 99-72 win. Lexi Donarski hit 7 of those threes, while Emily Ryan had a career high 12 assists to go with her 14 points.

About Oklahoma State

The Cowgirls have been H-O-T hot in their first 11 games, sitting at 9-2 overall and 5-0 in the Big 12. While maybe not playing the toughest of teams, that kind of start is impressive. Being a top the conference with Baylor, is never bad company to have in Big 12 women’s basketball.

This team has played really good basketball in conference play. They don’t turn it over a lot, they regularly out rebound their opponents, and are shooting at about 35% as a team from 3 point land. That alone will win you a lot of games.

The Cowgirls have two players that stand out to me. Ja’Mee Asberry who at 5’5 can absolutely get buckets. A pistol quick guard, with a good jumper. But the most dangerous player on this team comes in at the other end of the height spectrum, Natasha Mack who is 6’4 has been on a tear as of late. She’s been the leading scorer in four of the last five for the cowgirls.

What Will Happen

Again, Oklahoma State has looked good against mostly bad competition. Iowa State is on a nice little streak of their own, and I think the Cowgirls lose their edge in this one. Especially if Iowa State can hit the three ball tonight. Ashley Joens might struggle due to the length and height of Ok State, and Kristin Scott will need to play some great minutes against Mack, who could have a big game in a losing effort.

Iowa State- 68

Ok State- 64

Pick Three

Kristin Scott and Natasha Mack get into foul trouble

Ashley Joens doesn’t get 20 points

The freshmen for Iowa State play fantastic, again
