Eli Sanders, the three-star running back out of Chandler, Arizona, committed to Iowa State today. After previously being committed to Boise State, Sanders decommitted, possibly because of Boise’s head coach heading to Auburn after this season. Sanders had offers from plenty of west coast schools, but after his decommittment, his focus shifted towards Iowa State and Iowa.
Sanders had plenty of success in high school at Chandler, playing for one of the best teams in the country. He shared the backfield with Dae Dae Hunter, who committed to Hawaii. Sanders helped Chandler to an undefeated season in his senior year. Sanders joins fellow Arizonans, Brock Purdy and Joey Ramos, strengthening the Arizona-Iowa State pipeline. Not to mention Iowa State is winning NY6 bowl games just a few miles down the road from Sanders’ hometown earlier this month.
While ‘only’ a three star, Sanders has plenty of upside, and will likely shine in Campbell’s beat ‘em down, run it down your throat offense like former Cyclone David Montgomery, and Heisman candidate, Breece Hall.
