Last Time Out
Iowa State headed to Waco, Texas to take on the Lady Bears of Baylor. The Cyclones led pretty much all game and were able to finish and come out with a big ol’ capitol W. This win ended a 61 home-game winning streak for Baylor. Ashley Joens led the way with 27 points and 12 rebounds. Fighting Bill Fennellys ride a 3 game win streak.
About Oklahoma
The Sooners have struggled in the early going of the season, and so far, the middle part as well. Sitting at just 4-5, OU is in 8th place of the Big 12. They shoot nearly 46% from the field, but they only average 74.2 points per game (6th in the Big 12). Their 39% clip from 3 point range tops the Big 12, making 7.6 per game. So their offense isn’t bad right?
Their defense struggles a bit. They rank in the bottom half of the league in every defensive stat, ranking last in points allowed more notably.
A bright spot for Oklahoma so far this season has been their production from the back court. Junior guard Madi Williams is only behind Ashley Joens in scoring in the Big 12, averaging 23 points to go with 1.5 steals per game. Her partner in crime in sophomore guard, Gabby Gregory. Gregory averages 16.7 points per game while shooting 43% from the field.
What Will Happen
Iowa State has been on a roll lately, winning 3 in a row and 7 of their last 8 games. A win over Baylor is a huge confidence booster, but sometimes too much confidence isn’t a good thing. I think Coach Fennelly has the team mentally in a great spot to keep their foot on the gas even though they are playing a team on the opposite end of the spectrum as Baylor. Cyclones take care of business.
Iowa State - 80
Oklahoma - 57
Pick Three
Emily Ryan has double digit assists
A freshman leads the team in scoring
Boomer Sooner gets played 1.4 million times, despite the Oklahoma band being 600 miles away.
