Iowa State picks up another huge Brocktober win

Mike Gundy has been really good against Iowa State and Matt Campbell.

Friday was miserable, but the skies parted for a pristine Brocktober gameday.

After a big Charlie Kolar pass, the Cyclones turned it over on downs near mid-field.

On the next Cyclone drive, Andrew Mevis came out to punt!

Annnnnnnd it was a 36 yard shank.

Opposing teams missing field goals against Iowa State is always a bit shocking.

And then Iowa State did the 15 play, 10 minute drive thing, capping off a stressful goal line series with a 4th down dime from Purdy to Hutchinson.

And then the Cowboys completed a bonkers touchdown pass before halftime, which was a clinic in high-pointing the football.

The second half brought us the worst penalty call in college football history.

Here’s how I imagine that official left JTS on Saturday:

Don’t worry, X still scored three plays later.

After trading punts and scores, a Breece Hall touchdown gave Iowa State the lead for good.

And then Will McDonald happened.

And Oklahoma State was a few inches short on 4th down.

Jack Trice Stadium in October, man.

Brock Purdy is playing lights out football.

Hey West Virginia, there’s one more weekend of Brocktober left...
