Twister Sisters Before The Storm: Bring on OK State II

Iowa State Heads to Stillwater for the Sweep

Last Time Out

The Cyclones made it a little closer than it probably should’ve been, but walked away with a victory nonetheless. Maybe more importantly, it broke @DBSportsYT 4 game recap losing streak. Ashley Joens was nails down the stretch, but Kansas kept it painfully close down the stretch. Kiersten Scott, Lexi Donarski, and the aforementioned Joens all scored 18+ points in a high scoring game, 84-82 Cyclones.

About OK State

Oklahoma State is a slot above Iowa State in the conference rankings, but a win for the Cyclones would only put them .5 game back. The Cowgirls are hot right now, 8-1 in their last 9 and they’ve been blowing teams out of the water. All of those last 8 games, they’ve won by 13 points or more.

It was a high scoring affair in the first matchup, Ashley Joens had 30 points, and Oklahoma State’s Natasha Mack had 34 points along with 13 rebounds in a monster game. The game wasn’t particularly close, Iowa State never lost the lead since halfway through the first quarter in a high scoring shootout.

Opponent Player to Watch

In more of a ‘matchup’ to watch, Natasha Mack and Ashley Joens should both have big games again. Mack is averaging 19 points and 12.5 rebounds, a double-double machine. Iowa State will try to contain Mack better than last time as her 34 point outing was her season high in points. She’s also gotten 19, yes 19, rebounds in two different occasions this season.

What Will Happen

I hate to be a Debbie downer, but Iowa State drops this one in ‘historic’ Gallagher-Iba arena. I think OK State is too hot to handle right now, and they are coming on strong late. Iowa State will need to have a near perfect outing to come away with a win in Stillwater today, and I don’t see that happening.

Iowa State- 76

OK State- 84

Pick 3

Lexi Donarski doesn’t score 0 points. (You might laugh, but she scored 30 last time I said this)

Natasha Mack eats on the offensive glass.

Iowa State starts cold from 3 point land
