There will be a change of leadership for the Iowa State Men’s Basketball team. Steve Prohm is out as head coach after 6 seasons in Ames.

Prohm went 97-95 in his five seasons as the Cyclones coach, including a 40-68 record in Big 12 play. Prohm also lead Iowa State to two Big 12 Tournament titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Since their last tournament appearance, Iowa State has gone 14-42 over the last two seasons and failed to win a conference game this past year.
Steve Prohm and Jamie Pollard met Monday after Pollard returned to Ames following his NCAA Tournament Selection Committee responsibilities. This will mark the 4th time that Jamie Pollard will be hiring a men’s basketball coach since he took over as Athletic Director of Iowa State.
Iowa State extended the contract of coach Steve Prohm that was set to run through the 2025 season. A buyout of sorts will happen and the terms will more than likely be released at a later date.
Stay tuned to WRNL as we cover the coaching search moving forward.
