Twister Sisters Before the Storm: Bring on the Aggies

A spot in the Sweet Sixteen on the line.

Last Time Out

Iowa State survived an upset bid from Michigan State, but you don’t have to be the best team in the world every day, you just have to be better than the team you play. Despite being in foul trouble, Ashley Joens dropped an ISU tournament-record 33 points with 9 rebounds, followed up by senior guard Madison Wise, who added 13 points and 11 boards off the bench.

About Texas A&M

The Aggies are no joke ladies and gents. Despite them sneaking by 15-seeded Troy, Texas A&M is one of the teams that has a legit chance to win the whole thing. At 24-2, the SEC regular season champs have played well all throughout the season, picking up 9 wins against ranked opponents. Unreal.

Texas A&M is a very talented, rounded team. They shoot the ball well from all over and hold their opponents to low field goal percentages. In their two losses, they shot below 41% both times and were unable to make more than 4 threes in each game, where they also couldn’t get over the 70 point hump. Bottom line: don’t let them get open looks and hope for an off night.

Player to Watch

N’Dea Jones might not lead the team in scoring, but a more important stat might be that she averages 10.2 rebounds per game. The 6 foot 2 inch senior is a great rebounder and really is an efficient ballplayer, notching 41 career double-doubles. Also worth noting: she’s the school’s all-time leading rebounder. It’s no secret the Twister Sisters have struggled a bit in the rebounding department, so it will be interesting how they defend Jones.
