Surprise! Levi, Cole, and Marchie are back from their break to preview spring practice. But this time, the guys decided to bring in an expert. Someone that really knows their stuff. And who knows Iowa State football better than Matt Campbell?
How did the team manage the trials and tribulations of COVID and learning from the loss to Notre Dame and turn it into the best season in school history? With so much to learn from a tough loss and a global pandemic bringing the world to a halt, Matt discusses how he and the coaching staff were able to help the program navigate those difficult waters.
As has been the theme with much of the past year, adversity and perseverance has been a theme in nearly all of our lives, and Cyclone football players are no different. Matt talks about why they are willing to take chances on guys that have had off-field issues, and how they do their best to turn them into the best people they can be.
No stranger to adversity himself, Kene Nwangwu’s story is a remarkable one, and Matt tells us all about it and why he’s a shining example to follow.
And it wouldn’t be a spring football preview if we didn’t talk a few Xs and Os, so Matt gives us the inside scoop on some players, specifically receivers and defensive lineman, that he’s looking to see break out in 2021.
After we got done talking football, we got the hardball questions like “Would Marchie score on prime Michael Jordan in a one-on-one game?”, and “will we see a “Refrigerator” package for Howard Brown?”
To conclude the show, Matt lets us know what’s on Cyclone Football’s summer reading list so you can keep improving along with the team. You won’t want to miss this episode.
