Tyrese Hunter was a priority from day one for T.J. Otzelberger. The four star guard from Wisconsin is the main piece for the Iowa State recruiting class. Hunter has let Iowa State and it’s fans know that he will be sticking to his letter of intent and playing in Ames this upcoming season.

Iowa State has had several zoom calls with Hunter over the last few weeks. They had another one today and Hunter let the staff know during that call he would be coming to Ames. The prioritization of the prized recruit from day one, paid off in a big way this afternoon.
“I mean he’s ideally what we look for as a point guard, as a playmaker. He’s competitive. He’s a winner. He’s athletic, tough. He can make plays. A guy that can be a menace defensively. Hopefully, there’s more of them to come and we’re excited about him and really believe in him and think he’d be an impactful player for us.” Otzelberger stated, earlier this month. Clearly the new Cyclone coach gained a ton of praise for Hunter in a short amount of time.
This is another huge win for Iowa State as they keep piecing together a roster for the upcoming season. Iowa State will have a few more scholarships to fill to complete the roster.
