— Alex Halsted (@AlexHalsted) February 2, 2016 Don't look now, but Matt Campbell has led off the few days leading up to National Signing Day by picking up a huge commitment from nation's 45th best athlete/WR, Deshaunte Jones. Ranked as a 4-star prospect by Scout.com, Jones had narrowed his list to Iowa State and Cincinnati, though he had offers from the likes of Louisville, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Georgia Tech. While he was recruited as an athlete and played quarterback in high school, the Cyclones have brought Jones in to bring speed and play-making ability to the slot position on offense. With the addition of Deshaunte Jones, Matt Campbell's terrific recruiting class just got a little better, and this young, hardworking staff now has real momentum built up headed into National Signing Day on Wednesday.

Jamie Pollard Has No Twitter Chill

Iowa State athletic director Jamie Pollard took to the Twitter machine on Tuesday morning to scold a fan for changing his opinion on new football coach Matt Campbell. The attack is somewhat amusing, considering Pollard's reputation for wanting nothing to do with people who call him out on Twitter.

WRNL Free of Athletics Dept's Restrictions

1

You may have seen this letter that was posted on Cyclone Fanatic from the football team's scrimmage on Saturday. Cyclone Gridiron Club members were invited to watch the scrimmage, but were warned not to divulge anything they saw to the public. Well...to certain public audiences that is. You may notice that WRNL is absent from the list, but a site that that hasn't even existed in years (Cyclone Nation) somehow drew the athletics department's ire. Now, we at WRNL know that the athletics department is aware of our existence. You might even say we've become a thorn in their side (which is certainly not, nor has it ever been our intention). So, in our minds, there's only one way to take this; clearly the athletics department invites all Cyclone Gridiron Club members to freely discuss and share anything they noticed at the scrimmage on our site!

This must be captioned, for great justice.

Tempers Flared

After the UNI game, the WRNL staff had a meeting last weekend to discuss the future. Unfortunately, we were all still pretty pissed off, and the work environment was a bit...hostile.
